📖 About

Al Ain exists because of this oasis: 1,200 hectares of date-palm gardens — 147,000 trees — watered by aflaj channels engineered three millennia ago and still flowing. UNESCO inscribed it (with the city's tombs and forts) as the UAE's first World Heritage Site.

Shaded walking and cycling paths wind between the walled plantations, the falaj gurgling alongside; the Eco-Centre explains the system, and working farmers still harvest by traditional right. On a 45°C day the canopy runs noticeably cooler — ancient climate engineering, free of charge.
