Abrahamic Family House
A mosque, a church and a synagogue in one garden — coexistence, built
A rain of light beneath a floating dome — the Louvre's first outpost abroad
Jean Nouvel's Louvre Abu Dhabi is as famous for its building as its art: a vast silver dome of 7,850 interlaced stars appears to float above white gallery blocks and open water, filtering the sun into a shifting "rain of light" that is one of the great architectural experiences anywhere.
The collection tells a single, deliberately universal story — humanity's art chronologically across all civilisations at once, so a Buddhist scroll, a Congo mask and a European Madonna share a room and a theme. Loans from the Louvre and French museums rotate through, alongside a serious permanent collection and blockbuster temporary shows.
Don't skip the outside: the plaza under the dome is free-access with a café, and kayak tours actually paddle beneath the museum at water level. Under-18s enter free, making it one of the best family culture stops in the Gulf.
