Carved white marble and 16 deities — the Gulf's grandest mandir
One of the world's busiest Catholic parishes — mass in a dozen languages
St. Mary's is a Dubai institution and a quiet marvel: a Catholic parish serving an estimated hundreds of thousands of faithful, on land granted by the ruling family in the 1960s — one of the clearest daily demonstrations of the UAE's religious tolerance.
Weekend masses run virtually back-to-back from dawn in English, Tagalog, Malayalam, Konkani, Tamil, Urdu, Arabic, French and more, and the compound overflows onto the courtyards — a moving, multicultural sight regardless of your own faith.
Visitors are welcome at any service or for quiet visits between them. In December, the church's carols, cribs and midnight masses anchor Christmas for Dubai's vast Christian community.
