📖 About

The Textile Souk occupies the most beautiful arcade in old Dubai: a long, restored lane of wind-tower architecture and carved wooden roofing on the Bur Dubai bank of the creek. Under it, shops are stacked to the ceiling with silks, cottons, pashminas, sari fabrics and embroidered slippers.

This is where Dubai gets clothes made. Pick a fabric, and the tailors in and around the souk will turn it into a fitted shirt, dress or suit — often within a day or two, at prices that make the flight worthwhile for some visitors. The pashmina trade is the other draw: everything from AED 20 acrylic to genuine cashmere, if you know how to tell them apart.

It bookends the perfect old-Dubai walk: step off the abra, browse the arcade, then drift into the Al Fahidi Historical District and the Hindu temple lane behind it — three centuries of Dubai in a few hundred metres.

⭐ Highlights

  • The restored wooden arcade — old Dubai's most photogenic covered street
  • Silk, cotton and pashmina by the metre at negotiable prices
  • Tailors who copy or create garments in a day or two
  • Arrive by 1-dirham abra across the creek
  • Backs onto Al Fahidi Historical District and the temple lane

💡 Insider Tips

  • Real pashmina test: it's warm for its featherweight, matte rather than shiny, and never AED 20.
  • Agree the tailoring price, fittings and deadline in writing before leaving fabric.
  • Bargaining is standard — start about half, settle around 60–70% of the first price.
  • Friday mornings many shops open late; evenings are the souk at its liveliest.
