Gold Souk
The City of Gold's beating heart — 300+ shops and tonnes of gold on open display
Dubai's great fish market — pick your catch, have it grilled, eat like a local
The Waterfront Market is where Dubai actually buys its food: a huge, modern, air-conditioned hall on the Deira corniche where the day's catch comes in glistening on ice — hammour, kingfish, safi, whole tuna, crabs, and prawns by the crate — alongside halls for fruit, vegetables, meat and dry goods.
The move that makes it a destination: buy your fish at market price, take it to the cleaning counters, then hand it to one of the cook-your-catch grill restaurants on site. Twenty minutes later you're eating the freshest seafood dinner in Dubai for a fraction of restaurant prices.
It replaced the beloved old Deira fish souk but kept its soul — porters with barrows, traders shouting prices, and genuine local energy. Go at dawn if you want the full theatre of the catch arriving.
