Dubai's trendiest beachfront — street art, boutiques and calm swimming
Dubai's most beautiful mosque — and the one that opens its doors to everyone
Built in the 1970s in the medieval Fatimid style, twin-minareted and carved from creamy white stone, Jumeirah Mosque is the most photographed mosque in Dubai — it's the one on the 500-dirham note.
What makes it special is the welcome: under the "Open Doors, Open Minds" programme run by the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, it's one of the few mosques in the UAE fully open to non-Muslim visitors. The guided sessions are genuinely excellent — a walk through the prayer hall, a plain-English introduction to Islam and Emirati culture, and an ask-absolutely-anything Q&A over dates and Arabic coffee.
Traditional dress is available to borrow at the door, cameras are welcome inside, and the atmosphere is warm rather than formal. It's consistently rated one of the best cultural experiences in the city.
